Many have heard the phrase “All diseases from nerves”. Do you really believe in it? Most often, when a person is sick and gets to the doctor, he wants a quick and concrete answer to where the disease came from and how to cure it. But sometimes in addition to taking a quick pill it is worth thinking about how we help our body to cope with fatigue, tension and other negative emotions.

Headache, migraine

Psychosomatics of migraine

Migraine is a disease described by historians and classics of Russian literature.
In migraine usually hurts one half of the head, right or left. The pain is most often concentrated in the temple and eye area, but may be given to the ear or to the back of the head.
In contrast to the headache, in migraine the headache is not constant, and seizures – on average, about 3-4 times a month. The attack lasts from 2 to 48 hours, and the pain in migraine is so severe that “you can’t even move”. Literally. An attack may take a sick person (often – sick) to bed for a day or two.
Although sometimes some lucky beggars manage to stop the beginning of migraine attack “in the bud” – with a tablet of citramone, spasmalgone, paracetamol or no-shpy. Then, one does not have to wait for the attack to pass.

“Physical” causes of migraine remain a mystery for most doctors. It is known that migraine is associated with hormones. Something is said about spasm and vascular expansion. But this is still somehow unconvincing. There is no clear explanation why all this happens.
But I will now open to you some psychosomatic aspects of migraine.

Psychosomatics of migraine

The weaker sex is known to suffer from migraine attacks much more often than men.
However, not all women suffer from migraine, but, as a rule, they are especially sophisticated. The classics have also noticed this. From their novels, we can understand that in the past, women from noble girls’ institutions often suffered from migraine attacks.
But note: in no classic novel you will not find any mention of a migraine attack, which occurred in a peasant woman, seamstress, laundress, and in general the commoner.
This is before. And now what? It’s about the same. “Commoners” do not suffer from migraines. But girls and women, who grew up in “right” families, suffer from headaches very often.
And what do they have in common? Usually, these women of the weaker sex are smart, diligent and ambitious. While other girls play, walk, and meet with boys, our smart girls sit behind their textbooks, try to study for the A’s, go to the institute right after school, and after the institute they make a career.
The trouble is that, trying to be the best in everything, trying to always “match”, these girls and women overload their nervous system. But they absolutely do not know how to relax, do not know how to “party” and “let off steam,” as they consider entertainment to be a waste of time, something unnecessary and “irrational.
However, an overloaded nervous system needs at least some kind of discharge. The nervous system is discharged by a headache attack, which makes a person take his mind off things and stay in bed for a couple of days. In other words, the migraine attack plays the role of a kind of “valve to release steam” and accumulated nervous tension. Somehow it is similar to the release of static voltage, which occurs in the computer when it reboots.
And is it possible to avoid such attacks? Yes – if you learn how to release steam peacefully in time.
For example, it is possible to relieve accumulated nervous tension due to “bodily” physical activity – through sports games, fitness activities, dancing or… sex.

And of course, we must not forget that life is not only work and business. That you need to be able to rest, you should try to sleep, and in general it is desirable not to overdo it if possible.
